Other information...
Elder brother of 1979 Ferrari World Champion Jody Scheckter. Drove for Team Gunston in a Lotus 72 at his home GP at Kayalami. Would have driven for Lotus, but had to decline due to being sponsored by another tobacco firm in South Africa. Also lost out on a drive at Arrows in 1978 to Rolf Stommelen who bought along sporsorship money. His chance to join Wolf was vetoed by his own brother, who didn't want anything else to worry about. Then went on to have brief drives as an independant and for Hesketh and Williams finishing with a dismal season at March.
