Lotus 79 (1978-79)
During 1978 the Lotus 79 (aka The John Player Special Mk IV and also known as 'Black Beauty') arrived. It was another revolutionary car design from Lotus, using "ground effect" to its full potential. This then saw Mario Andretti win the Driver's Championship and Lotus win its seventh Constructor's Championship. With the second car driven by Ronnie Peterson, Lotus (upon arrival of the Lotus 79) dominated the season.
