Lotus 76 (1974)
The Lotus 76 (aka The John Player Special) was designed to be a 'lighter' version of the World Championship winning Lotus 72. Unfortunately it didn't live up to its predecessor's reputation, and was quickly replaced with the Lotus 72 for the rest of the 1974 season and the full 1975 season!
So much for that idea then!
